Our discussion today, faithful readers, involves adding color to our cheeks.
First, let’s review an easy way to apply blush. Think the Nike Swoosh. Apply your blush just below your cheekbone in the shape of the Swoosh. This technique gives definition and contour to your face.
Pepto Bismol pink with the matching lipstick is definitely out… particularly for the over 45 crowd. Fair skinned gals can use a touch of pink to highlight the cheekbones.
Be sure to apply a touch of beautiful bronzer over the pink to add another dimension of color and give your cheeks a healthy glow. Dust the bronzer ever so lightly over the rest of your face and you will have completed the picture. The savvy, sassy gals at CVD have tested so many bronzers. The winner…. Hypoallergenic Glo Minerals bronzer with its high pigment, triple milled powder is fabulous for color and contouring. Give it a try!!]]>
Contrary to media advertising, there is no one universal skin care line that is suitable for all of us.
Each of us, dear readers, must try different lines to find the products that work best for us.
I do know, however, that we must apply a vitamin C and sunblock to our face and neck daily. No further discussion is necessary about those products!! But today I want to discuss Epionce skin care products.
Now faithful followers we all know, whether male or female, that we must wash our face every morning and every evening.
To help decide which cleanser is suitable for you I am listing the various Epionce cleansers and toners and on which type of facial skin they work best:
Epionce Milky Lotion and Balancing Toner—for dry/sensitive to normal skin;
Epionce Gentle Foaming Cleanser and Balancing Toner or Purifying Toner for spot treatment—for normal to combination skin;
Epionce Lytic Cleanser and Purifying Toner—for combination to oily/problem skin.
In my next blog I will discuss Epionce products that improve improve skin texture and help clear problem skin. So stay tuned gentle readers.]]>
There are obviously a number of reasons, dear readers, that one experiences the unfortunate problem of bacne (acne on the back).
Again, acne is a disease and may require internal medication in order to be controlled. However, today let’s assume one may not need internal medication.
Bacne can be the result of :
Do not use a body cleanser with moisturizer if you suffer from acne on your face of bacne. The last thing you need, dear reader, is more oil or lipids on your body.
We suggest using a shampoo and conditioner without a lot of the froo froo in them so that the ingredients in them don’t come in contact with your body. The same goes for gel on your hair. If you use gel, wash your hair before you go to bed in the evening. That way the gel doesn’t get on your pillows and sheets and get transferred to your body.
We won’t discuss steroids as we just know our faithful followers would not succumb to that temptation.
As a final note, sufferers from acne usually age very well. You will realize this when you go to your 20th high school reunion, and you look so much younger than your former classmates.]]>
Now, faithful readers, let’s discuss the color of your (and my) face.
90% of the hyperpigmentation on your face is a result of exposure to the sun. Sunbathing is obviously a great factor in facial discoloration. But just being out in the daylight results in environmental damage. And a great deal of this damage occurs while you are either driving or being a passenger in your car.
YOUR FACIAL AND NECK COLOR SHOULD MATCH THE COLOR ON YOUR DERRIERE (bottom or buns).
It doesn’t matter if you are white, brown, black or green. The color of your derriere is the color your face is meant to be.
If these two colors do not remotely appear to be the same, do not despair dear readers. Your dermatologist can help you return to true form.
And remember always…..sunblock is your friend.]]>
You may recall dear readers my discussion about the sale of Allergan to Pfizer. Well, the deal fell through. The Treasury Department put into play new corporate tax rules that take the advantage out of moving a U.S. based corporation to a foreign country which has lower corporate tax rates. The important thing to note is this….. Despite the cancellation of the sale of Allergan to Pfizer, the price increases put into effect this year (2016) by Allergan have not been rescinded.
Ah, the price of beauty!!
One way to detect a counterfeit product is by looking carefully at the labeling. Perhaps the font on the counterfeit label or packaging. The bottle or tube color may be a shade off. The logo may be similar but not the same as the original.
And, faithful readers, counterfeit and outdated products will not be on an authorized dealer’s website. So where will you find these unauthorized, counterfeit products???
They will be found on large, all encompassing websites that sell thousands of different products.
So, my faithful followers, be careful where you purchase products you will be using on your skin!!!]]>
Phloretin CF works on the outside of your skin improving your skin tone, improving your skin radiance, retexturing your skin and diminishing lines. Phloretin CF is the vitamin C for those of us with normal, oily and problematic skin. This is not to be used on dry skin.
It can be used for all ethnicities.
And remember… 60 is the new 30.
I am a firm believer of the application of vitamin C to your face, neck and top of your hands. My favorite form of vitamin C is manufactured by SkinCeuticals.
Skinceuticals produces two forms of the vitamin. C E Ferulic is preferable for normal and sensitive skin. It provides advanced environmental protection against damaging free radicals induced by the sun and pollution. It also increases firmness, reduces redness, the appearance of wrinkles and it increases the protection of your sunblock.
We will discuss Phloretin CF (the other SkinCeutical vitamin C) in our next blog!
So, dear aging readers, do not despair. The big pharmaceutical companies are constantly working on new products to strip years from our faces.
As we like to say, 60 is the new 30.]]>
Dear Faithful Followers,
Have you given the above much thought….Of course not…. Why would you? Most of us assume a well trained person is performing the injections.
Lets us at CVD enlighten you. Dermatology is the study of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. To become a dermatologist, one has to complete the following:
4 years of college;
4 years of medical school;
1 year internship;
3 years dermatology residency.
After dermatology residency, most dermatologists endure rigorous testing to become Board Certified. Why not have a skin specialist perform your cosmetic injections. So faithful readers the next time you visit your physician for cosmetic injections, be sure to check his/her credentials. It makes good sense.
EYEBROWS ARE A BIG DEAL!
People often ask us at CVD what we notice first on our clients’ faces.
For myself, faithful readers, it is the eyebrows. Unibrows, raggedy brows, too long brows, scraggly brows, ect., make me want to whip out the wax and tweezers and make the world right again.
Eyebrows should frame your eye. They should not be the center of attention. Well groomed brows with a nice arch add to the beauty of your eyes.
Forget the Marlene Dietrich look! To our young, beginning tweezers, i say DO NOT OVER TWEEZE! If you continue to tweeze to the nth degree, your brows may nit grow back. Ask your mother, your aunts your grandmothers about this phenomenon. The look you love at 15 you may not want at 25.
One last bit of advice. Go to a professional the first time you have your brows groomed. Of course, we at CVD do phenomenal eyebrow arches. But, if you aren’t fortunate enough to avail yourself of our services, visit salons that offer this service. Check out the clients who have just had their brows groomed. You may find the perfect salon for you.
and remember…. EYEBROWS ARE A BIG DEAL!!!
